The Dreams of Others (Original: Die Träume der Anderen) is a science fiction TV series that plays with the theme of shared dreams in the vein of Inception.
Imagine a world where students can study the creation of shared dreams: Oneironautics.
In this world, an aspiring dream architect uses her lucid dreams to seek answers regarding her father's mysterious disappearance. But each time, she tries to connect to her father, her subconscious
is hijacked by a stalker who wants to imprison her in his world forever.
The film tells the story of Maja, a student just starting Oneironautics, a novel degree programme about shared lucid dreaming at the Thierstein Institute in Basel.
Through her family's history, she has the trust of Professor Ebbinghaus, who introduces his students to the world of shared dreams.
But behind her interest in studying lucid dreams, Maja hides a dark secret. She wants to solve the mysterious disappearance of her father, who keeps appearing in her waking dreams. In her fanatical
search she is not afraid to use chemical dream boosters. But her expeditions into the world of shared dreams collapse when a stalker hijacks her subconscious, determines her path and tries to
imprison her in his world.
Signs are mounting, that her professor is playing a double cross and knows more about her father and the truth of dreaming than he lets on.
